The Ride Back...
Drove back from my sister's house today, the ride was alright, we stopped in Barstow like normal, and I had Quizno's again, my parents had McDonald's... there was a plethora of cute, young girls at Quizno's, I can't imagine what brought them there, or why, but quite a few many of them were good looking. I enjoyed my view while I waited for the sub, it was nice. I got a lot of reading done. I had begun a college checklist humor, interesting-thing while I was at my brother-in-law's house (same house as my sister, but I just change the title), I began it, and got through about 100 pages between the night I picked it up and this morning. In the car, I knocked out the rest of the 140 pages, good read. After that, I picked back up where I left off on Debt of Honor, nailed 94 pages between Barstow and our arrival home, good read. Thats the good stuff, the bad stuff now. I nor any member of my family won the $17 million lottery. Oh well, we'll get by I suppose. Worse yet, even worse than not winning 17,000,000 dollars, (what could be worse), the air conditioning in the car went out after about 10-15 minutes away from Barstow, so, needless to say, the rest of the ride wasn't the most pleasant, but when you consider spending 5+ hours in a car with your parents, I can't think of any environment like that that is pleasant! Alright, that being established, the trip automatically became a great deal more unpleasant. Reading in the hot California/Nevada desert sun. Whoa is me. Whoa is me. And damnit to hell, we're listening to the old-oldies, not the good-oldies, but the old, old ones, but whats worse is the commercials in between them. The pain. It was torturous, its amazing I got any reading done at all. Only 350 pages (I think 15 chapters) left to go in Debt of Honor, I should be done in about 9 days or so, and you'll get a small summary on why you should read it on the 10th day.
I'm Tired
Now a note on Sleep. I enjoy sleeping, its one of our greatest past times. "When I feel the desire to exercise, I lay down until it goes away." - Robert M. Hutchins said it in 1936. Its an interest notion, and a lazy one, so it fits me quite well at this point in my life. However, this weekend I slept in proximity to my father that was uncomfortably close. I was a room away, only one wall between us! You say, poor baby, at least you weren't in the same room, but I say to you, I might as well have been. You don't understand how loud my father snores, its like James Earl Jones mumbling into a loudspeaker..or something. Its deep, and its loud, what do you want from me? Its bad in the next room, its worse in the room, and I can honestly say, I no longer wonder why my mother is as close to being deaf as she is, though she claims she can't hear it. I decided last night, shortly after deciding I couldn't concentrate enough to sleep, I moved across the house, a nice thick couple of walls between the source of the snoring, and myself. Nonetheless, I brought an extra blanket to cover my ears with, so that I wouldn't have to hear the muffled, yet still slightly audible snores. Its bad, but whats most comical about it all is that sometimes, he will snore so loudly, that he'll wake himself up. Hilarious!
