Well, it's that Hallmark Holiday that we all know and.. well, we know it, that's for sure. The holiday invented to deprive men of money, and to make them say "I love you" to their significant other on this otherwise normal day.

I like to call it "Singles Awareness Day" or "S.A.D." for short. That day of days where, if you are single, you are.. singularly aware of it. Because everyone around you has a bouquet or chocolates from their special someone, or ya know, they're making out in front of your building - same difference. And, that awareness is, well, kind of saddening - hence the alter-ego for the holiday.

Barring the nauseating sight of couples making out, or giggly exchanging cutesy nicknames with one another, I can say I am content in my singleness. I know that the reason I am "alone" is because I'm shallow (or picky if you want to be nice about it) - at least I have a pretty good idea of what I like.. along with what I don't. In many ways I am the real life embodiment of Chandler (from Friends), as Erin can attest to. I have that sarcastic wit, and you know.. the "pickiness."

All that considered, tomorrow I plan to eat chocolate, order/eat some Chinese food, eat Ben & Jerry's (like usual), and go to the women's basketball game (exciting!!) - Maybe the rec center too, if I don't feel too shitty from all the poor eating.

Have a happy Erin's birthday, because Valentine's Day is a scam! You should tell the people you love that you love them every chance you get, not because a greeting card corporation tells you to. Give your significant other chocolates, flowers, and gifts because you want to show them you appreciate them - not because it is February 14th. Besides, all of that stuff costs more around this time of year, what sort of crap is that? They've created artificial demand, increased the supply, and raised the prices as a result, I'm against it! - Besides, think how much nicer things would be in a world where this stuff happened year round at un-hyper-inflated prices - because we want to!

Happy Erin's Birthday everyone. Hope yours is happy, and you share it with whomever you wish.
