Me Am Tired

New Year's was... definitely a different experience.

Erin (previously mentioned) invited me to her New Year's Gathering thing that she was having; not a party, just a gathering. It was going to be small, just another high school friend, and a co-worker/friend of hers. Her mother and brother would be in attendance, but out of the way... because they live there and have nowhere else to go. Her coworker was Cherie, and the other high school friend (I am the first) is named David. Unfortunately David ended up not being able to come because his mother is insanely overprotective, and wanted him around for New Year's. Poor him.

As may have been indicated in the previous blog, I was to be instantly bespelled by Cherie upon meeting her. She was cute, if a bit short (under five feet; I'm just under six feet tall); she thought I was cute, but we were both shy, so we talked away the evening as Life as a House played in the background. Erin was on the phone with her new kinda-sorta-boyfriend Dan, who lives in D.C. - so we were alone. Every now and then she'd stop in on us, and tell Dan "Nope, they're still two feet apart." - In retrospect, should I be worrying that Erin is my pimp? Ugh..

I spent the day with Maria; I've been looking forward to this for the past six months; since we celebrated her birthday early. We didn't catch each other in August, when I was here for two weeks, I wasn't able to see much of anyone during that break. I picked her up at 11am and off we went to run some errands, as is always associated with hanging out with Maria. A library stop (they were closed), a Toys'R'Us stop, and a T.J. Max stop later, we were done. It went pretty fast. Then it was time to shop. The mission was to get me a new pair of pants. I got a pair before Thanksgiving, and my mother absolutely despises them; there is simply no end to the criticism of these jeans. Simply because that is the style being shown. Argh! Finally, I'm off to get new jeans and shut her up for the next 9 days. Easy mission right? Wrong; Oh so very wrong.

We hit J.C. Penney's. We decide Boot Cut is the way to go. I need a 34x32. Nothing but under 32, and over 36 as for the waist. I find 40x30 pants kind of disconcerting; may no one here ever experience shopping for pants like those. No dice. Onward to Sears, half-hearted effort given, no boot-cut jeans were located. Let's eeeeeeat! We hit up Applebee's, and we both had a Chicken and Broccoli Pasta Alfredo, sans the tomato. We both enjoyed them thoroughly, and the waitress was cute too! We had to deal with an annoying pair of old ladies behind Maria, who complained about everything. After lunch, we went back on the prowl.

We walked back to the mall, and wandered through ending up back at the car to drop off leftovers. We opted to try a different mall, and go visit Erin. At this point, I must point out that Erin and Maria were archenemies three and a half years ago due to high school drama involving the aforementioned David. Fast-forward to a couple months ago when Maria had a cat she needed someone to take care of, and Erin ended up being the one to do it. Friendship has blossomed. David and I spent three and a half years trying to get them to be friends. Leave it to a living ball of a fur to bring them together.

We hit up Mervyns, because I wanted some exercise shorts...I decided the two I had were not sufficient for how many times per laundry cycle was planning on attenting the rec center. Afterwards, we went and visited Erin, who was at work at the other mall, and talked for a while with her and a couple of her coworkers. Back out in search of Jeans. We hit up J.C. Penney's where we found no Boot Cut jeans, but did find some cool Simpsons boxers that said Springfield across the crotch; purchased along with boxers of an olive green color. More mall wandering. Various store hopping, and no boot cut jeans. Maria had her first Orange Julius... delicious. We did more store hopping, and stopped in to say goodbye to Erin; we're getting together on Tuesday, the three of us (yay).

On the way out, I saw men's jeans in a store we had been in earlier for Maria, and asked if we should stop in there. We walked in, found Boot Cut jeans, looked for 34x32, and found them right off. Headed for the fitting room, I tried them on, and they fit like a glove. Went to check out, and I was marveled by the girl, who was cute... her name was Tanalee. A name which I attempted to pronounce, and was right on the first guess; something that isn't very common, she remarked. We shot the breeze as I paid my bill, and so forth. Maria and I left the mall, after 5+ hours together, we had finally accomplished our goal of new jeans. Exhausted and triumphant I took her home.

As far as New Year's went, I have decided (not resolved, resolutions have gotten me nowhere, decisions are more definitive) I am going to be more "Scully" when in Boulder. For the past 48 hours, I have been 100% pure Scully; and it is fun for me and everyone around me. I feel as though I am more reserved in Colorado, and I have to wear different masks for different surroundings. This semester, this year, I am going to be Scully-straight-up, all the time, everywhere and with everyone. At the same time, I am still staring down this semester, I am still very excited about the prospects of it for girls, learning, girls, work, girls, finding myself, and something else - oh yeah, girls.

2004 definitely has the potential to be "The Year of Scully." I will be turning 20 during finals this semester, ending my parent's blaming everything on me being an ungrateful teenager and it shifting to them having failed somewhere along the line in raising me.

I'm feeling quite tired so, I shall finish on the morrow. And besides, I'm tired of being interrupted by my parentals. I am ready to go back to school.

I reserve the right to edit the piss out of this blog when I wake up tomorrow.
