I'm tired.
Last night was the eve of my Film Studies exam, worth 20% of the class grade. Of the 200 pages the exam was to cover, prior to Sunday, I had read about 8 of them. Last night, I had 150 planned. I nailed roughly 38 between Dinner and Scrubs/Salsa. I came back, relaxed, put some sugar in me, and went to the study lounge at 11pm. I was pretty productive and relatively alert the whole time. Slowly the number of pages I had to cover diminished. 100. 95. 90. 80. 70. 60. 50. At about this point I opted to check the time. I had figured on going to bed around 2am - not bad for a study night. So, I checked the time on a computer in the room. 12:53am. Awesome, I'm definitely good for another hour. 40. 30. 20. TWENTY MORE PAGES, YOU CAN DO IT! - I rallied myself on. 10. Ten more. Then to bed, that's it. You're almost there! Five. Five is nothing, we're there! None. NONE! WE DID IT! I packed up my things and headed back to my room.
I slipped my key into the door ever-so quietly so as not to disturb my sleeping roommate. I slowly opened the door, and the clock gives me a glare. 3:55. Yeah, so the clock in the study lounge was off. It was probably around 2 when I checked the time. So, I got to bed shortly after 4:05am. The impressive thing about all of this is, a little after I checked the time, I was joined by a fellow dorm-guy, who was doing some late night studying. He yawned, and I became self-conscious; "Crap, now I'm going to yawn too, damnit!" But for the two-ish hours we worked in the room, I did not yawn once. Which is terribly impressive because I had been up for 20 hours on shitty sleep.
Numbers:
0 Yawns.
6.5 - Hours of Studying
40 - Minutes between the time I went to bed and my roommate woke up.
3.5 - Hours of sleep
80 - Minimum percent I believe I scored on the Film Exam
In other news, the Off-Campus Housing Fair was today, and I went with my roomie (Matt), Mari and Arwyn (yes LoTR-style). And at none other than the first booth was "Rivendell Apartments." I shit you not. Instantly, I make the joke, "You could totally be Arwyn of Rivendell!" Then we discovered it was "Christian Housing" - What is that anyway? - And instantly we all remembered I was Jewish and that wasn't going to work.
We moved about, the girls doing most of the footwork and talking because, well, let's face it, Matt and I are hilarious cynical pains in the ass, who were suffering sleep deprivation. We wandered around collecting free stuff, occasionally talking about rooms and houses to the people. And Matt and I were terribly entertained by the models of the homes/apartments. I joked with one lady about moving in, and she said she'd cut the price in half. I said, you cut it to scale and we'll have a deal. She smiled, it was a serious offer though. The place was awesome.
A little later we were walking around, and this woman with the most immaculate teeth I have ever seen approached us, and asked me if there was anything I'd like to see. Matt immediately joined the conversation fearing I'd sexually harass this cute young lady. I mostly just stared at her teeth, we joked about it later with the girls. When they heard what she said, they both went "Ooooooooh!" And I went on about her teeth. They were like, "Yeah, sure, whatever." But I'm serious, these were unbelievable, I could've stared at them for a while...
Anyway, Matt and I had a lot of fun, while exhausted and toying with serious people. Arwyn and Mari were very productive collecting sheets, while we were separated. We met back up later, and went through them all, but I had to go take my exam before we really got anywhere, and besides Mari was basically running the show with Arwyn as her sidekick. Occasionally tossing out numbers to be divided by four. I was serving as a calculator, but that's nothing new. I'll talk to Mari tonight to see what we came across. Matt is currently sleeping, poor guy is wiped, I'm glad I'm not in the Air Force. And I'm kinda pissed I haven't had time/energy to work out yesterday/today. With a good night's sleep, I think I'll be able to go tomorrow. Woo Woo.
Still fending off a cold. But this is Spring, so what else is new?
Take it easy.
