Whack!

My sleep schedule is oh-so-out of whack right now.

It all started Wednesday night, with two papers.

Wednesday night, I went to bed at 6am (Thursday morning).
Woke up at 8:35am on Thursday morning.
Went to classes, hung out, rented a movie with a friend.
Fell asleep during the movie, got about 60 minutes of sleep.
Got a ride back to my room, went to sleep at 10:30pm.
Slept soundly until 8:35am Friday morning.
Came back to my room after class and slept from 5:10pm until 6:45pm.

So, since Wednesday morning, I've got 15 hours of sleep. Granted that's more than I was able to get last week this time, but the difference is, this time last week I was in bed asleep, and right now, I'm not. And that pisses me off. How can I have an enjoyable spring break when I can't get to sleep.

I've given myself the task of reading at least two books during the course of the next 10 or so days, on top of may-be doing some schoolwork. The Mismeasure of Man by Steven Gould - it's about IQ testing, and how badly we fucked it up - it's kind of extra reading for my Anthropology class, but I thought it was interesting, and the prof (whom I respect and if you attended school in Boulder with me, you would have heard me suggest, at least twice, that you take the class I'm in with him). And the other is a ton of fun, it's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams - I read the original over Summer or Winter break, I don't recall, and sometime over the past semester and a half my roommate bought the complete collection, so I'm reading The Restauarant at the end of the universe - I'm 1/3rd done, his chapters are so short. Good stuff!

Since I'm in the "wanting to go to sleep" mood, I think I'll start into Gould's book. And hopefully I'll manage to get more than 5 hours sleep tonight - granted I don't have many mandatory things planned for tomorrow (read: any), I'd still like not to be a nocturnal creature since I want to work mornings this week, to have money and free time in the afternoon. Going to bed early on Spring Break, who would've thought?

And I'm not sure, but I think one of the guy's on my floor is staying here also, as long as he's quiet as a corpse we won't have a problem. I'm all about a quiet, enjoyable, fun, easy, spring break.

(On another note, how lame am I to stay in the dorms over Spring Break, work, hang out, and read? - Get over it, you damn well know I'm a crotchety old man!)

And on a whim, I checked Fandango, and the $3.00 cinema has Big Fish and Miracle playing, so I think I'll check those out this weekend if I have to drag someone along kicking and screaming, or not...

Anyway, The Mismeasure beckons, as does slumber. Morning!
